Visitors from Venda at IAS-UI

IAS-UI received two visitors from the University of Venda, South Africa, on the 14th of September, 2017. Prof Ernest Klu and Dr M.T. Chauke met with IAS Director Dr O.I. Pogoson to discuss a wide range of issues pertaining to African Studies research and pedagogy on the continent, comparing notes on disciplinary structures and curricula.

It includes background information on the Institute, our mandate as one of the leading centres of research and pedagogy on African and Black cultural and social issues, detailed information on the courses and degree programmes we offer, as well as information on the admission process and other requirements for obtaining postgraduate degrees at IAS-UI.

Theme: Be Bold for Change

Wednesday, March 8, 2017 was devoted to celebrating International Women’s Day at IAS.

The Women’s Research and Documentation Centre (WORDOC), in collaboration with the Gender Studies Unit of IAS, put up a colloquium on the theme ‘Be Bold for Change’.

As usual, it was a gathering of town and gown at Lady Bank-Anthony Hall. Under the coordination of Dr Sharon Omotoso of our Gender Studies Unit, the lead discussants at the colloquium were Prof Janice Olawoye of the Department of Agricultural Extension and Rural Development, University of Ibadan, Prof Kassey Garuba, Head of the Department of Economics, University of Ibadan, Mrs Rose Oyedele, Special Adviser on Due Process to the Governor of Oyo State, and Dr Hanna Schlingmann, of the German Academic Exchange Service (DAAD), University of Ibadan.
