After a brief break to mark Christmas and the new year, activities have kicked off in earnest at IAS-UI as the second semester draws to a close.
A meeting of academic staff held on January 4 to reflect on events and activities in the past year as well as to plan for the new year, especially as regards programmes, examinations and the compilation of students’ results.
Seminar presentations by students continued on January 9 with the pre-field presentations of Blessing Ikuejebe and Patience Ogbo, both PhD candidates in the Gender Studies programme. Ikuejebe gave a seminar on the topic ‘Gender Enrolment Differentials in Science-Oriented Disciplines in Ondo State Tertiary Institutions’, while Ogbo’s paper was on ‘Baby Trading Practices and Marital Conflicts among Women in Mbaise, Imo State’.
The student seminar series will run for the rest of the semester.
