As part of activities to mark the 2019 edition of International Women’s Day, our Women’s Research and Documentation Centre (WORDOC) is holding a screening of Uduak Isong’s romantic comedy ‘House Husband’ on Thursday 7, 2019, at 10:00 a.m., Lady Bank-Anthony Hall, Institute of African Studies, University of Ibadan.

Chair of WORDOC’s IWD event, themed #BalanceforBetter, is Prof Olutoyin Jegede of the Department of English. A panel discussion will follow the screening, with Uduak Isong herself as one of the discussants. Other members of the panel are Hajia Aisha Ismail, President of Matan Arewa Southwest Nigeria, Deborah Adeojo of our Gender Studies programme, Dr Tunde Awosanmi of the Department of Theatre Arts, and Mr Paul Emokhare, manager of the University of Ibadan community radio station, Diamond FM.

The film ‘House Husband’ plumbs the problems and possibilities of role swap occasioned by a reversal of employment status between husband and wife.

Members of the university community and the general public are cordially invited to celebrate International Women’s Day with us at IAS-UI.
