A team of researchers led by Dr Sharon Adetutu Omotoso of our Gender Studies Unit has won CODESRIA’s 2018/19 Meaning-making Research Initiatives (MRI) competition.

The grant from the Council for the Development of Social Science Research in Africa (CODESRIA) will support, to the tune of USD 35,0000, the team’s 16-month research undertaking on the theme of ‘Women encountering mob justice: Manifestation of security challenges in Nigeria’.

The entry by the Omotoso-led team is only one of 32 selected applications out of 517 submissions in the MRI competition. The other members of the successful team from the University of Ibadan are Dr Mutiat Oladejo (History Department) and Mrs Temitope Bello (Institute for Peace and Strategic Studies).
