Prof Dele Layiwola to deliver Nigerian Academy of Letters 2017 Convocation Lecture

The immediate past Director of IAS, Prof Dele Layiwola of our Cultural and Media Studies unit, will give the 2017 Convocation Lecture of the Nigerian Academy of Letters (NAL) on August 10 at the J.F. Ade-Ajayi Auditorium, University of Lagos.

Prof Layiwola, elected to the Fellowship of NAL in 2012, served as the General Secretary of the Academy from 2012 to 2014. He is currently the public orator of the Academy.

The Nigerian Academy of Letters is the foremost organization of scholarship in the arts, comprising all recognized learned societies in the different relevant fields. Its efforts go beyond coordinating art scholarship and knowledge production to promoting and influencing policies relating to the development of the arts in Nigerian society.

The theme of NAL’s 2017 Convocation is ‘Patriotism’. Prof Layiwola will be delivering a lecture on the subject of ‘The Patriot and the Nationalist in an Emergent Democracy’. The lecture commences at 11:00 a.m. prompt.
