Prof Layiwola’s topic is framed as a question: ‘How Can Africa Reinvent Sustainable Development Goals and Dreams?’ It is a lecture that dissects the developmental predicaments of African countries, as it argues that developmental programmes and processes should germinate from the cultural soils of African societies, rather than being handed down from the West.

The seminar will hold at Lady Bank-Anthony Hall, with Professor Emeritus Pai Obanya as chair. Time is 11:00 a.m. prompt. Members of the University community and the general public are cordially invited, as we look forward to a lively discussion of the challenges and prospects of sustainable development in Africa with the lecturer.

As is usual with lectures in this series, a link to the livestreaming channel will be provided on this site on the day. Do keep an eye on this page.
