The 2019 Black History Film Festival (BHFF 2019) commences on Monday, 17 June, as the African Studies Students’ Association (ASSA) partners with other associations to organize a week-long celebration of cinema and the Black experience.

Daily film screenings at Drapers Hall will be held alongside a variety of other events, including panel discussions, book readings, an art exhibition, music, poetry, and debate competitions. See the attached programme for the daily bill.

ASSA’s partners on BHFF 2019 include the Association of Faculty of Arts Students (AFAS) among others, with Alain Kassanda/Apkass as the prime mover of the project, which is in its second edition.

Members of the University community and the general public are cordially welcome to attend the events of this cinematic celebration of, and meditation on, the Black experience.
